Why it exists

Whether the bus turns up on time is one of those things everyone in a city has an opinion about and nobody can check. The data needed to settle it is public, but not in a form anyone would call usable — a live feed of vehicle positions and a schedule API are not an answer to "is the 205 reliable?".

This site is an attempt to close that gap: to take what is already published and turn it into something a passenger, a journalist or the operator can actually read.

Who makes it

One person, in their own time. I am Gonçalo, a software developer based in Porto — more about me and my other work at goncalovf.com.

Independence

STCPontual has no connection to STCP or to Porto Digital. It is not endorsed by them, not funded by them, and not reviewed by them before publication. It relies on data they publish openly, and that is the whole of the relationship.

The project is non-commercial. There are no advertisements, no trackers and no analytics that follow you, and nothing on this site is for sale. It is also not a campaign: the aim is to describe the service accurately, including when the picture is a good one.

Corrections

If something here is wrong — a figure that cannot be right, a line that looks mismeasured, a claim on the methodology page that does not hold — I would rather hear about it than not. See suggestions for the ways to get in touch.
